Pinal Co. Democrats
Pinal County, Arizona is the sixth fastest growing county in the nation. It is also larger than the state of Connecticut. It features grand vistas of southwestern desert country interspersed with mountain ranges and pine forests. Politically, the county has been a traditional Democratic stronghold due to its origins in the mining and smelting industries. Now, however, with copper mining declining, we have a tremendous in pouring of people coming here for retirement, good weather, and a host of reasons that make Pinal such a great place. This has caused demographics here in Pinal to swing rapidly toward the right. As Democrats, we know it is important to organize ourselves and come together and make our voices heard.
The Pinal County Democrats is an official Democratic Party organization that meets regularly, sponsors candidates, and is actively engaged in election campaigning and voter education. Technically, the Pinal County Democrats are an assembly of the elected and appointed Democratic Precinct Committee-persons in the county. Precinct Committee people are either elected by the voters or appointed by the County Party Chairperson and in turn, these people are the “electors” at Democratic Party conventions and meetings.
The Pinal County Democrats meet on the third Wednesday of each month in Florence, Arizona, the county seat of Pinal County. The formal business meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the offices of the Pinal County Attorney at 131 North Pinal Street in Florence. The formal business meeting is usually preceded by a Dutch-treat dinner and social hour at the A&M Pizza. The group generally starts arriving about 5:30pm at the restaurant, and it becomes a nice time to visit with fellow Democrats and hear the latest news and gossip. These meetings are open and if you are a registered Democrat in Pinal County you will be welcomed, so please come.
